About The Feldenkrais Method® of Somatic Education

The Feldenkrais Method was created by Israeli scientist Moshe Feldenkrais (1904–1984), and aims to reduce pain or limitations in movement, to improve physical function, and to promote general wellbeing.  Everyone, from athletes and artists to administrators and attorneys, can benefit from the Feldenkrais Method®. Whether you want to be more comfortable sitting at your computer, playing with your children and grandchildren, or performing a favorite activity, these gentle hands-on and verbal movement lessons can improve your overall well being.

While frequently hands-on, the movements are explorative, not forced and are non-manipulative. Your own proprioceptive and kinesthetic senses allow you to consciously and subconsciously learn from these experiences and to expand and refine your repertoire of available actions.  This leads to permanent improvements in how you do the things you do, but without requiring extra effort or premeditation. You will experience greater freedom of movement with less pain or muscle tension and more creative, playful and dynamic spontaneity in your body.
