Alexa Macias DPT CSCS Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist at Focus Physical Therapy in Bend Oregon

Alexa Macías, PT, DPT, CSCS

Background and Education

Alexa earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Tufts University after completing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Oregon State University. Before becoming a physical therapist, she spent several years as a personal trainer, helping people of all ages and fitness levels build strength, improve movement, and stay active.

Today, Alexa combines that performance background with evidence-based physical therapy to help patients recover from injury, reduce pain, and confidently return to the activities they enjoy. She believes successful rehabilitation starts by identifying the true source of a problem—not simply treating symptoms—and creating individualized treatment plans that fit each person’s goals.

In addition to orthopedic physical therapy, Alexa has advanced training in pelvic floor rehabilitation through the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She enjoys helping patients overcome pelvic floor dysfunction so they can return to lifting, running, sports, work, and everyday life with confidence.

She is passionate about providing compassionate, inclusive care and has a special interest in improving access to pelvic health services for all patients, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Whether she’s strength training, running, hiking, skiing, or exploring the outdoors, she believes staying active is one of the best ways to build long-term health and resilience. That same philosophy shapes her approach to physical therapy—helping every patient move better, feel stronger, and continue doing the activities they love for years to come.

Patient Testimonials

I would recommend John Center to any athlete…

I’m a skier, whitewater kayaker, and gym rat. Issues with mid-back and hip tension stopped me from performing compound movements at the gym, like squats and deadlifts, for over six years.
After working with multiple physical therapists, John Center is the first one to successfully work with me to achieve a return to the movements I love doing at the gym. In addition, my back issues are much better managed and mitigated when I do the outdoor sports that I love. I can enjoy all my sports with more confidence now while pushing myself hard.
I would recommend John Center to any athlete who wants to do the things they love at a high level.

Thanks to John Center at Focus PT in Bend…

Thanks to John Center at Focus PT in Bend, I am out of pain and getting to an even better place than I was prior to my injury. I’ve now seen John for two separate issues (chronic neck pain and a sprained sternoclavicular joint) and in both cases he has been a huge help. John is very knowledgeable, caring, and professional. He is highly skilled with soft-tissue work and was able to provide me with a variety of exercises that challenged me without causing further pain or setbacks. As a fitness professional, it was nice to learn some new things and receive expert, hands-on support with joint mobilizations as well as exercise progressions. My upper body has never felt stronger and more resilient! Focus is a lovely clinic with a friendly staff and I highly recommend them for your sports performance and rehabilitative needs.

Reduced pain

John was fantastic and the whole team was very sweet. My back pain went from a consistent 4/5 to almost nonexistent in just a couple months. John is very knowledgeable, kind and helpful – definitely check them out :)

Highly recommend Focus PT

John Center has been a huge help with getting my body back in action quick. He is super welcoming and easy to work with. After a few weeks of visiting John my issues have improved drastically from range of motion, strengthening, and overall confidence in movement. The facility is nice and open with plenty of room to move. Highly recommend Focus Physical Therapy.
